When Tea Meets Culture: Hikayat at the Rijksmuseum

What does tea look like inside one of the most iconic museums in the Netherlands?

Hikayat was invited to serve tea during the Creative Garden at the Rijksmuseum.

And we wanted to do things a little differently.

Instead of simply putting down a pot of hot tea, we brought different expressions of what tea can be, from colourful iced teas and hibiscus to Butterfly Pea and our Black Chai.

People stopped by, tried something new, asked questions and stayed for conversations.

Some already drank tea every day. Others had never seen a naturally blue tea before.

That contrast is something we love.

Because tea doesn't have to belong to one culture, one generation or one particular moment of the day.

It can be traditional and experimental.

Hot or ice cold.

Quiet or surrounded by hundreds of people.

Serving at the Rijksmuseum was another reminder of what we're building with Hikayat:

bringing tea into places where people, culture and stories already meet.

And hopefully adding another story to the room.

Tea. People. Stories.
